Average Scores by Level
Diane pairs heavy deadlifts with handstand push-ups. The HSPU is the limiting factor for most athletes — it requires shoulder strength and body control that takes time to develop.
| Level | Time / Score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner | 15+ min | Scale DL, pike push-ups |
| Intermediate | 6–15 min | Rx DL, kipping HSPU |
| Advanced | 3–6 min | Fast cycling, strict HSPU |
| Elite | Sub 3 min | Competitive level |
Scaling Options
Scale deadlifts to 155/105 lb. Sub pike push-ups or box HSPU for athletes who can't kick up to the wall. Full HSPU is the goal but the deadlift weight should feel manageable for the 21s.
Strategy Tips
The deadlifts should be fast — even at 225 lb most athletes can cycle these quickly. The HSPU is where you budget your effort. Break the 21s into sets of 7 or 5 to preserve shoulder endurance for the later rounds.
